To answer your question Pixy - yes greyhounds need a muzzle in public by law, at least here in WA (doesn't matter if they are ex racing or not).

The other half is doing training with the new radio signal shock collar today, we decided to grab one because of all the livestock around.  Don't want him biting sheep or jumping fences, or getting trampled by the neighbour's alpacas (they attack and kill dogs by nature).

Looking forward to being able to let him off the leash outside and give him a proper run, will be the first he's had in years (possibly ever) outside of 30 seconds at a track.

I'm told he got shocked twice but now turns back when the warning beep goes off...so far so good (poor thing)

One of my mates actually recently got a shock collar for his dog (Doberman) because she was WAY too excitable. He simultaneously started training her to be more of an outside dog and the difference I saw this week compared to previously is actually rather remarkable. Just to clarify though, the collar isn't on the dog all the time and it's mainly being used in conjunction with training...not just shocking the dog all the time.

Yeah the pair gallop up to the fence line when they see a dog walking around, even a tiny little fluffy one, they are all over it.  They are often kept with sheep to protect them from foxes.

They run right up to us as well if we walk on a paddock they have access to.  I just stand my ground and look at them, maybe let them smell my hand after a moment and then slowly continue what I was doing (ie pulling out a bunch of plants that self seeded and were not wanted).  They usually stay nearby keeping an eye on us and smelling where we were working.

Ran 7km straight (without having to stop or walk at all) last night. Wasn't an amazing time or anything (42.26) but was the furthest I've run  in 3-4 years, so I'm pretty happy with that :)

Speaking of Alpacas...

I wouldn't mind having a nice alpaca jacket :P

stripes you get a like cause that's a fair effort, I reckon I'd drop at around 500 metres. I do go for 3-5km walks with the girlfriend semi regularly though.

Cheers man! I'm not really a massive fan of running, but the GF is a super keen runner. She goes to the gym most days and runs on the treadmill for like an hour. Got a text yesterday saying she didn't push herself at the gym in the morning, so "only" did 7km in 45mins...she's also signing up to do a half marathon next weekend and starts training this week to do a farking triathlon later in the year...she's actually ridiculous! But yeah, I didn't go to the gym to do any weights last night so a couple of mates and I went for a run and just ended up making the call to keep pushing past the 5km we originally intended to do to see if we could crack the 7km. I was in a pretty decent rhythm by which point though, so probably could have kept going if I felt so inclined...but I didn't lol.

I was actually surprised with myself last night though, I think I'm probably a lot fitter these days than I give myself credit for...just hard to mentally move past the old perception I had of myself back before I lost a bunch of weight.
