Good family. Actually have a lot of fun with them. Hotel room with just me and the missus makes it a decent weekend away. And I'll get family drunk before I start drinking and they'll just ask for private road shenanigans haha.

Goodbye invos.

Having my housemate be really thoughtful made me feel good today.

So I've previously been pretty vocal about not being overly happy in my current share house situation (I live with a couple - the guy I've been basically best mates with since year 2 and his GF, and another chick), I think part of which stemmed from feeling like I don't have my own space and not having the room for my guitars and recording studio gear. I've been missing that massively and has been part of what's been pushing me to want to look for somewhere to rent with another mate or, failing that, by myself. This was also a point of concern though, as I'm not sure if I'll still have a job after mid next year and I'm trying to save as much money as I can between now and then.

So anyway, our theatre room had my theatre system, my large sofa, my housemates large sofa (a corner unit split into two and running down an entire wall of the room) and a f*cking treadmill. My computer was sitting out in the front lounge but I never use it coz the front of the house is mostly my housemates (couple) and there's only a single power point and 3 computers plus accessories.

The other day my housemate asked if I was cool with her swapping her sofa with my computer...ok, cool that makes the theatre less crowded, rad. I then thought perhaps I could actually get a new desk and squeeze some of my gear in and asked if my housemates today if they'd be cool with it. Got a phone call from housemate (female of the couple) this evening in response saying that after we'd been chatting the other day and I'd said something about missing being able to just pick up a guitar and play and be creative etc she started thinking of possible ways to make something work. She asked if I'd consider the idea of her finding somewhere else to put her treadmill and essentially making the theatre room entirely mine to do with as I please and setup my recording studio gear and theatre however I like. They've moved her sofa into the front lounge with their tv, so won't need to use mine now either. She asked if I'd consider possibly paying a bit more of the rent if we went with that setup.

I obviously get a pretty sweet deal out of this as I've already got a car spot in the garage, my bedroom (which, admittedly, is tiny) and a massive theatre room (like 7m x 4m) to myself. The couple have the main bedroom (only room other than the theatre that has aircon) and ensuite plus the front lounge to themselves, my mates GF has a car spot in the garage and my mate also keeps his motorbike in the garage between our cars and parks his car on the grass. The other chick has two bedrooms similar size to mine, we share the other bathroom and she parks on the grass. We all share the main living area which has my other two sofas in it.

Rent is $450 a week and we currently split it evenly 4 ways. I'm happy to pay a little more, as it'll make me happier having my own space like that...but what do you guys think would be fair for all involved?

Is offering to pay a third of the rent ($150 a week) fair for everyone? Is that too little? Too much? What's everyone else think? Obviously it's still a sh*t load cheaper than renting by myself or with my other mate (extensive tastes and very picky about where he'd wanna live),  means I don't have to move house again and means I can actually start playing guitar and writing/recording regularly again.
