Have a think about what consists a good risk for a bank. Somebody who will pay the full interest associated with a sum of credit or some who skips out Early and deprives the bank of there hard earned interest?

If early payout was preferential for the bank they would give you benefits for doing it not penalties.

I totally agree, from a profit-based bank's opinions on what constitutes good business practice.

The "credit score" system is not a profit based business, though... or is it? (serious question, I'd have no idea... finance is not my strong suit :) )

EDIT: also... LOL'd at "hard earned interest". Also... couldn't give a fark what this bank in particular thinks of me anymore, with regard to "credit", as I'll NEVER get another loan though them... their interest rates and fees suck massive weiner (I was in a compromised position when I initiated the loan... long story)... I'll stick with them for my "regular" banking for now as they pay a reasonable interest on a savings account, though. :P

When my car was financed through esanda I was limited to how much I could pay extra a year and early termination fees were extraordinary.

For my family I am the bank.  My fees are very reasonable.  It's a shame I never see the principal or interest again

Want to adopt a son? I feel too sh*t asking my parents for money...once you leave home you should be fully independent IMO
