I think you might want to bring the car to the maint day on Sunday then.

Maybe we can help fix it for your.

I am sure that if you get it on a train this morning, it should make it here by Sunday.

What ya reckon? ;)

We did exactly that with wifey's old mazda a couple of years back. left literally $1 in there. Saved several hundred in interest/exit fees and also help your credit rating better than paying out early.

I looked into it, it's $175 for an early total repayment within the first 24 months of the loan (I'm outside that), or equivalent to a maximum of $175 based on what the bank calculates they've lost in "profits" by you paying out early.

That low money trick is actually a really good idea... if I wasn't too late to apply that strategy :)  I've already zero'd the balance haha

Edit: $175 is a reasonable cost to learn that my strategy was not 100% the best... and also save me the hassle of having to remember to pay the $1 in two and a half years or so... and saving me the OCD impulses of having "$1" sitting on that account for the next 2 and a half years :)
Would that really affect my credit rating in a worse way by paying out a loan early? If so, our credit rating system has some serious flaws... The system shouldn't be based on WHEN you pay the kharnts back, it should be based on IF you pay them back at all, the earlier the better. The system should be based on "will this person pay us back" rather than "will this person give us the most profit based on interest and fees".
