Our company is looking for a new project manager to team up with our existing pm to deal with the 50 mil worth of developments on sites and new constructions going on

Well I have thought about doing a job like that before but getting your foot in the door in a project manager capacity in a trade orientated role as a bloke let alone a chick is not so easy

Well our pm is down looking at our current construction jobs going on at our sites and meeting with architects on the brand new 10000sq facility being built this year and I explained to him my dilemma of not being able to do these roles without getting a foot in the door and some experience

And he's letting me team up and join in on the new building project :D

Super happy atm

Can't wait to learn more about the role and hopefully be able to persue the proper role further on

Autocad is a nifty skill to have. Even if it's just being able to open drawing files from consultants and navigate through them.

Yeah I am looking at revit Aswell

Pretty happy that I'm getting sent the plans for our new site just so I can navigate through them and learn

Especially since the only people who have them is gonna be the owner and Gm and project manager then little old me :)

That's what I like about working here

They're very happy to help u learn more even if it's not for a position conventionally that the company has come up.

Revit is pretty cool. Something that not a lot of people are using in the same software package is Navisworks. It's brilliant as it talks to Microsoft project and 3d packages like revit/12d/Civil3d. So you can visualize a project time line. Navisworks also helps when multiple consultants are working on a job as it will highlight conflicts between say a water pipe and an air con duct in 3d.
