While I don't really do AC I'm in comms and work with a lot of BIG -48v DC systems, we have to have battery back up for comms rooms in the railway. Building a UPS system to support ~250a @ 48v for minimum 8 hours is a pretty solid task. Removing the old one (rated for 150a) just moving some of the 70mm2 cable slightly out of the way, one Feed was that loose it fell off the switchboard while we were jiggling it on a ladder. The bang it made scared the living sh*t out of me, had to change my undies and nearly fell off the ladder. Put a nice hole in the cover and fried a few things too. How it worked like that I don't know.

Some people are dodgy mother f*ckers, you just can't do that sh*t when I comes to electricity. People say mate what would you know about quality work and ethic your only 23, please mate the work I do sh*ts on most older blokes. Because familiarity breeds complacency.

People get super relaxed when they have done a job for 49 years, sometimes it needs a fresh set of eyes to double check what they do on autopilot

Guess I'm trying to say I'm just lucky things happened away from where I was working, just like T-Rex, and it always pays to check before you work as much of a pain in the arse it is. Not being bothered is not worth your life at work

Aw trust me pixy, you can't fart in this place without getting shot. EVERYTHING is monitored, like literally down to individual ports on switches via our operations centre in Sydney, they knew straight away. Just explained what happened. It's a lot harder to get whacked with lower voltage dc than AC, but if you do you have no chance. Not saying older blokes are useless either, they're like the walking dictionary of the railways, but a lot of they time they just know things so well they over look small details cause we are on the ball and trying to finish multiple things at once. Like any job I guess, easy to overlook the little things

This should be in the WPYOT haha.

I can imagine bizkets, I got told to smash 6m2 of 'concrete floor sheeting' 3 years ago by a project manager. Guess what it was? Pressed asbestos sheeting. I was using a P1 mask, carting the sh*t out in big buckets and was covered in it
