But before I had surgery for an unrelated reason, I was given a type of steroid medication to temporarily increase the platelets so I wouldn't bleed out. Alcohol has a considerable impact on my platelet count, so I have to be a bit careful. Drunk me + accidents is not a good situation.

When she was first diagnosed she had a bruise on her face 10cm across - and she got that by popping a pimple. So yeh, I can see how alcohol would be a bad idea. I just get nose bleeds that don't stop for several hours. Once needed a transfusion because I lost so much.

Wish everyone the best of luck. Health is something a lot of us take for granted day to day. After reading the above, I feel good that I just "feel good". I've seen nose bleeds and other things land my sister back in hospital. Plus te steroid treatment had given her cysts on her ovaries, so she's in constant pain. And yet she's still the most positive person I know. Even she is doing the "other people have it worse" thing. It's amazing. I hope your platelet count goes up Blazer, or at worst, doesn't drop. Thanks for sharing Am back at the blood bank in a few weeks to try to donate again. If this works this time, I'll be able to donate platelets soon.

Didn't see it but the evidence is there plain as day!
