Hi guys

Due to some scary moments while cornering alitle too quickly I am looking to firm up the ride on my G6ET a little without sacrificing the nice comfy ride.

"Wholesale suspension" suggested king springs and Koni adjustable shocks which will set me back about $2000

I want to keep the nice ride so am concerned this will spoil the comfy side, any thoughts?

Cheers

Mick

Go the kings but with bilsteins. My mums g6et is a perfect ride though beware it will feel like your doing 70 but your really doing 90-100kph.

Go the Billy's mate. My mum doesn't have a bad thing to say about her ride.

Thanks Kroozin

How does the price compare, the Koni,s were quoted at $1500 fitted which is a bit scary, I know the Billy's are not adjustable so should be a little cheaper.

They are pretty much the same price. Bilsteins are a mono tube gas filled shock, a little firmer than the Koni. If you are in Sydney then IMO Koni would be the better choice, whereas I am in Perth with good roads and the billies were my choice.

Koni's have a slower softer feeling damp rate. More suited to the G6E then the billies.

Go the variable king springs and don't go too low. A 350mm ride height will clear most speed bumps. Front end on parking will scrape though.

The Bilstiens are a great shock. As good if not better than Koni. But more suited to flat clean roads and speed.

Koni's soak up expension joints on the road better than the billies... to a point. At about 100 120 the billies would do a better job.

A single suspension unit cant do all things. A set up works in a certain window. If it's comfy at 60 it will suck at 120+

My teins suck at 0 to 80. From 120 upwards they are so comfy it's fantastic. Fast is the only way to go down dirt roads with them. Going slow it is drifting out and hoping all over the place. Going fast it tracks like a train and is smooth.

So in that if you drive pretty sensibly and want something comfy that wont let you down too bad when pushed beyond it's limits. The Koni way is the go.

If you can put up with the car jolting over expansion joints and being a bit too bumpy over speed bumps. And want something that will keep the tyres planted well beyond the posted speed limit. Then I would go the billies.

If you want to rob banks and flt around like a hoon all day. Repair rattles every weekend and have less traction than std in the wet. Get the coilovers.

koni's for comfort

Billies for boy racers

Teins for tossers

Thanks XR09

One last thing, would the Ride change much in day to day city driving? I'm a rep and use the car mainly in the city until the weekend comes around so don't fancy vibration and noise coming through all day?

Cheers
