Haha..

Keith you can't Bpay speeding fines in QLD unless they are overdue.. The initial fines don't come out with Bpay information (Unless maybe it's a camera offence.. But I seem to remember sitting at TMR waiting to pay a camera fine before)..

wow... I always heard that Queensland are in the past with jokes like when you're on a flight up there and the pilot says "we're just arriving at coolangatta, please wind your clocks back 20 years"...

I guess they are correct... can't BPay a fine... welcome to the 1990's ;)

Was the same in NSW last time I got a hand-written infringement. Had to dust off the old cheque book for the fcker.

Bpay reference numbers include check-digits...doubt coppers could reproduce that on the road side. Unless they use pre-numbered tickets or something.

Either way doesn't concern me as I'm an upstanding citizen and all that.

the fines here in victoria that are "carbon copy" style paper have the printed bpay biller details on them and the reference number is unique to the infringement number which is also on the carbon paper... The cops don't need to figure out the check-digit as it's already been done.

I think the issue in QLD is that it can take up to 3 week before the notice/license is propagated across all the systems that need to line up to allow payment.

Slightly off topic, but a couple months ago I went to take my little tinnie out fishing. When I hooked it up to the car I realized the rego had run out by a couple days. So I went inside and paid the $20 rego, printed the receipt and put the new stickers on.

Three hours later I'm under way off to my favourite fishing spot travelling in a straight line when a jet ski cuts in front of my path. I knew I wasn't going to hit him so I kept traveling on my due course and by the time I passed him he was stationary about 30 meters away from me.

Turns out he was a cop and pulls me over for being over 5 knots within 50 meters of another vessel. He checks over all my safety gear, rego sticker and everything is hunky dory so he lets me off with a warning. Happy days!

Now yesterday I get a message from my sister saying that I have a $700+ fine waiting for me at home for driving an unregistered vessel.

What are the chances of me getting off this fine provided that I payed the rego before I went out?
