So.. From a logical perspective..

Cars pay to use roads because cars damage roads.. Cars have an average weight of 0.75tonnes per axle..

So they pay because their weight damages the structural integrity of the road pavements..

But given the weight of a bike compared to the area the load is applied, bike cause no damage to a road pavement..

So therefor bikes don't pay, and cars should pay more because currently there isn't enough money to fix the damn roads..

I wouldn't have as much of a problem with it as I do if riders knew how to ride... When u are driving down a single lane road with a bike lane and the rider is riding in the middle of the lane because one car is legally parked on the left and rather than signal and go around they just sit in the centre for over 5kms at 30km ph...

The reason I have a problem here is be ause u need a licence to operate a vehicle but not a

Push bike. IMO if u wanna make it fair make people have a bike license and give them adequate training to ride on roads as opposed to letting them ride then cause accidents or get killed themselves.

Charge them a licence fee which will cover the cost of a two day training course and then that's it...if they pass give them a licence... Simple

at what age do you need licence?

in another 3 or 4 years you will be buying your child a bike, that bike will be ridden on a road somewhere, whether in front of your house a local court etc, should your child have to sit for a licence, are you going to be happy to pay for this licence? What about rego, people want bikes to be rego'd, would you be happy paying for your childs bike to be registered, I'll happily pay rego for my bike if they work out a system that discounts my other rego's as I can only be using 1 form of transport at a time

Wrong.. I do not let my child ride on the road.. Nor on a court that is not private land or property and nor should parents...

The age of which over here a child can ride on the footpath is approximately 13. Let that stand,.. After that then they require a training course on road safety like drivers do...

Registration should be charged as a small fee ... Eg $20 per year for bikes used as vehicles on public roads for people over the age of 13 which pays for the number plate which all bikes should have because...

IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS I HAVE SINGLE HANDIDLY SEEN THREE BIKE RIDERS RIDING ON A PUBLIC ROAD GOING THROUGH RED LIGHTS

Why should they not receive tickets too?

Also riding two or three abreast... No one abreast...

Cheers
