All our IT staff have personal Android based phones, so of course they tend to look down on the crApple users but I'm realistic enough to understand that for most people, they do what they want and they just work.

People go on about Apple having a walled garden but then again, you do tend to get a decent amount of IOS updates etc. per model family.  Take the iPhone 4S, they came out in 2011 and were supported up to IOS 9.3.5, so people got a good 5 years out of them.

Even Nexus/Pixel phones from Google are lucky to get 2 - 3 Android versions, good luck with Samsung, I won't buy Samsung again just because of all the broken promises with updates.  Not too mention their tactics of annoying people to create a Samsung App store account when I first got the S3.

I'm currently leaning towards the LG V20, all I want is removable storage - I've been bitten before with a phone dying and I didn't get the chance to back it up - a removable battery and pure Android or as close to pure as possible, f*ck software bloat, I don't want a 32GB phone with only 28GB usable thanks to the manufacturer loading it up with mostly BS software I will never use and cannot remove without jail breaking.  Just like my PC, I should be able to install the software I want and if required start with a clean slate, I paid for it outright, it's mine, f*ck off.

Mums in little cars driving dangerously with their kids in the car. Same old story, doing 80 in an 80 zone, not fast enough for speedy mum. Brake lights, no hint taken. Again, no hint taken. Overtakes with oncoming cars and nearly takes my front end off. Should of reported her to FACS.

Your problems all pale compared to mine - I'm using Windows Phone!

Had network issues with VF and ended up returning my 6P. None of the current devices seemed interesting and there was no way I was being ripped off for an iphone or a pixel so gave a Microsoft Lumia 950xl a go to try the platform out. Plus Optus were offering with a free Xbox with forza and you can upgrade to new phone after 12 months.

So far it's really good but let down in some key areas. I've got a 7.1 ROM on my old note 3 for the days I get sick of it!

One thing I do like about the Winphone is the management side. So much less messing around, one of the perks of making the Network Server OS & email Servers software is it's so much easier to make it all work seamlessly.

Plus if I remove the email account, I don't automatically lose all my contacts like you do on IOS, as one of the bosses found out.

I reckon im going phoneless for a week, will endup selling my current phone before getting a new one.

none of my spare phones have a nano sim and whats worse is the spare iphone 6S I had lined up to use for a few days won't turn on!

I actually deep down wana see how I can handle having a week without a phone really.

the worst bit is I signed up for more punishment by getting an iphone 7 plus.
Amateur!

I actually managed to convince the missus that a Galaxy S7 will be a much MUCH better phone for her than her current iPhone 5...which she has to have her texts automatically delete after 15 days...which she can't install any more apps onto...which she has to keep deleting photos...which she can't store any music on...all due to having no storage space available. Dumb.

New 32GB Galaxy S7 with a 200GB microsd card for Chrissy will sort all those issues out

At the end of the day they all endup pissing me off but we can both agree that apple's quality is declining. I still regret giving my note3 away, had it from when they were released for 2 years though.

Like wow this backup situation pissed me the f off, had an app using GPU acceleration to attempt to brute force it as well as using my 4ghz cpu which was nice cause it was a good little stresstest where it didn't fall over - but I caved and backed the device up to icloud overnight. uploading 2-3gb with less than 1mbit upload speed sucks!

at the end of the day, it's far easier to exfiltrate data from an android device, but is that always a good thing? ah well, apple build protections into the device to stop governments accessing it but they can look right through my icloud backup now if they want to! yayyyy!

rant #2

just got a letter from my insurer that they're no longer issuing insurance (to anyone) and since they're owned by aami they recommend going to them. so when it lapses in like march I'll have to find a new insurer where ideally the modifications are covered...

aami wanted thousands of dollars per year to cover me so lets hope their pricing is good. RAC won't insure my car due to the mods and just car insurance (who im with now) happened to be the best insurer for me (after a few years at RAC).
