Wasn't ever being rough or forceful with it either, so took it back to the shop this morning and they're sending it back to supplier for repair. Annoying. I have had this problem twice so far on drives, both Kingston drives too. I couldn't figure out why one of the mirrored SSD's failed in my Server, opened it up and noticed the SATA cable sitting on the mainboard, tried connecting the cable back up when pieces of plastic fell out of the cable, that's when I noticed the copper connectors on the SATA data connector had no plastic supporting them. Here's what I emailed the wholesaler after getting mucked around by the supplier. I purchased a Viper Responder 3305VR 2-way system through Autobarn just over a week ago, mainly because I wanted the 2 way communication as I've had bits stolen off my car & I wanted notification on the LCD for which sensor was tripped. After talking to two of their installers, I've now been told this will affect my cars existing immobilizer and remote keyless entry and would cause me to lose "other features" which they couldn't elaborate on and that I might need to get an automotive electrician to fit the unit, as their installer doesn't know if he could do it and I was quoted $500 for the install (up from the $99 - $200 depending on car type, that I was originally quoted). Could you recommend someone in Western Australia that really knows these products and can point me in the right direction as to whether the unit fits my purpose or do I need to see if I can get another unit on store credit or something. Yup, this was exactly what happened. They better give me a replacement drive!

Use plex and watch my library anywhere in the house. Downloaded movies straight to the server Bloody awesome. Should have done it years ago I have 1TB downloads per month, put my pesky neighbour uses most of it. Edited 25/10/16 08:38 AM by arronm

Posted 25/10/16 01:37 PM Share Posted 25/10/16 01:37 PM I have a tonne of external drives but I bought a Thecus 5-bay N5500 6 years back with 5x 2TB Seagates in a RAID 6 array. It gives me 8TB useable but I have that split into 2x 3TB LUN's, 1 for each VMWare Server and the rest I've kept spare for future expansion. I've been thinking of getting a 2 bay Thecus with 6TB WD Red's to backup the 3TB LUN's, as it would be a PITA to re-install all the Servers etc again, especially Exchange & System Centre.
