The boom generated the impression that the resource sector is stable and "jobs for life" nothing could be further from the truth. The reason it has traditionally paid more than other industries is due to instability so companies had to pay more to attract people from lower paying but more stable roles.

People are absolutely retarded if they think they're gonna be on fifo wages their whole lives as a sparky. I'm definitely not one of them, I live well within my means. I'd love to go drop some coin getting my car to 600hp while im on this kinda money but I'm not going to cos it's stupid. I've worked in domestic and commercial construction in Perth and iron ore and now gas. Everything has dropped right off even domestic construction. My favorite industry is really commercial construction but it's actually pretty difficult to get a job on a decent project nowadays

I'm really regretting blowing all the money I did over the last 5 years, would be in such a better position had I been smarter and saved bulk coin. May end up having to utilise my Finance degree, but the idea of having to compete for an entree level job I've got no experience in is also worrying...

If a major client of ours who happens to be tied closely to the resources sector went under we'd feel the pinch and have to lose a staff member. I'd like to think it wouldn't be me as I do a good job and I'm not the newest staffer...but there's no guarantees. IT moving to cloud will change the landscape a fair amount in the coming years. Good old Australia slow internet stops it happening sooner. Edited 10/05/16 04:37 AM by -Stever-

It just won't make full power/boost if the housing is actually cracked enough to leak. It also might be noisier.
