Thought I read you could test resistance of the coils? Does it not often shown up faults?

impossible to test the secondary part of the coil in situ, if you have the right equipment to bench test then great, most wont. paying somebody to do it...may as well buy new ones.

Yeah righto I thought it was just a test the primary and secondary sides with a multimeter and compare ohm readings to new coils type of deal. Obviously doesn't work well

That does work but tells you only a little, if it reads open or high resistance you would have more than likley noticed that whilst driving. to actually measure the output of the coil under high load which is generally where they fail requires getting a probe(think similar to a clamp meter) around the lead, which is inside the head obviously. Which is why it's pretty much impossible to properly test the secondary of a COP setup in situ. The best way to test them is actually via OBD and log mftot (total missfires) If your plugs are a known quantity it can only be 1 other thing. In saying that in some rare cases its actually the coil driver, new pcm aint cheap so id do the coils first. My fg felt a bit crap, logged 50 missfires in a half hour trip. replaced coils, 0 in half our trip. Not fool proof though

wifey ran a red light with the boys in the back and t-boned some other poor lady. it crashed really well she said, and no one was hurt.

written off and they gave us $11k.  (7/2006 xr6t with 100016 km, no options but in excellent condition)

it pisses me off that after years of trouble free motoring, I had decided to throw a bit of cash at it lately with coils, plugs, ceramic coating the manifold, engine mounts, bought a second rear to re bush etc. and then within two months its all gone.

bought a Volvo t5 awd with the payout money because I'll be doing the reno on the unit soon and don't want cash tied up in a new car that gets driven once or twice a week right now.

does anyone want to buy a complete disc to disc k-frame 2.73 lsd/ 328mm vented rear disc rear end with new diff bushes? PM me :(

Stink bug season on site at the moment...these carnts are f*cked! I liken them to scarab beetles from The Mummy movies...they're these flying black beetles that bite and piss on you. They're aggressive f*ckers too, they'll charge you and run up your legs. Little carnt got me this morning, gah can't wait to fly home tomorrow!

They sound awesome, bring a pair back so I can have a look when we meet so you can vent over the ex missus hahahaha.
