I ask them to change to timber flooring and they quoted me $6500 NOW that's MAKING money. This also goes with retaining walls said it will be in the house price but now its not included, surprise surprise. Looks like a job for ME!!Bathroom floor to ceiling tiles extra $1800Ensuite extra $1200Free standing bath extra $1800Kitchen upgrade to polyurethane $3400and the best of all NO handles on kitchen cupboards $850. WTF!! So its true less is more. And no security alarm which I thought would be a standard inclusion.I also asked to remove the standard bedroom lights and fit with ceiling fans almost $2000, pass.Over all still happy with what im getting but bloody hell I know when im getting ripped off. How much are you planning on retaining? I'd be very cautious DIY'ing decent retaining.

Council states anything over 600mm will need council approval. ATM its unknown to the high builder tells me we wont know until we start digging. If over 600mm im going to step the wall to its max so I dont have to go through council.Im looking at going with besser block retaining wall core filled and strengthen with rebar. They priced before you picked?Council say 600. Building code says 1000mIf going block and core filling, make sure the footing is 100%If you want to save money do B grade sandstone and grout the gaps. A lost less work should go into making that wall.
