Have grown embarrassingly attached to the thing in the 3 weeks or so I've had it

I'm guessing it just takes your height and weight (though you can specify stride length for both walking and running pace) and works out the energy burnt to take a step - obviously cadence of steps determines if you are strolling>jogging>running

Try driving a truck every day on the Bruce highway that will only do 100kph! sh*ts me to tears when you get a run up leading up to the passing lane get beside the caravan and they start doing 105. Many very bad words are said over the uhf

lol ,you made my day . I tow a camper trailer some times ,and when I overtake cars with the trailer on going up hills they try to keep up . they give up real soon when they realise they have not got enough power lol . the xr6 turbo conversion tricks them every time
