It really sucks and it's devastating for the whole family, they adored the thing. The sad thing is my fiancee lost her last cat to the same fate. We had this one locked inside for the fist few years of his life, felt bad and started to let him outside (due to us living in a court). He's been fine for years and never strayed far from home. I guess the odds were against him & turns out that maybe we should have kept him confined.He still had the best 7 years of life and was the most affectionate cat I've ever met. More dog than cat.
