NHASP , It's usually a pen pusher(HQ person) who's nuts end up in the vice.

You play someone will have to pay , just like a car. It's all skin in the the game.

Makes. us all passionate I suppose. A bit limp otherwise

What's the difference ???

The difference is when I have a coronary in the middle of Xmas dinner your mrs didn't study for an extended period of time to have the skills and knowledge to come to my house and know how to try and save my life!

Emergency services put themselves into dangerous situations every day and are one of the most valuable assets to the community.... To compare them to someone who works at a 24/7 servo really pissed me off.

Jobs are simple majority of the time ... U study or worked to get some form of qualification then you are worth more... Public holidays included.

U wanna call a plumber out on Xmas day? That's gonna cost Ya an arm and a leg...

What's the difference ?

They still did an apprenticeship to get qualifications so they can be skilled to do what u can't!

And your mrs... Along with the bajillion others in the hospitality and service industry are a dime a dozen...

Most have no qualifications... And the ones that do aren't worth anything to anyone in the real scheme of things for an employer. If she didn't do it for hardly any money... Someone else would ...

That's the way the world works.. And there is no one to blame but the person who chose their career.

Basically tab and panda are spot on... Lolol

Also tab is right, she should be getting penalty rates anyway. It's the law.

what a lot of sh*t , I am a glazier by trade . but that means nothing at all ,because someone of the street can get the same pay as me if he can do my job . and also the ambos get

paid more to start off with than what my misses gets .so if the hospitality people do not get paid more over Christmas than the ambos should not get paid no more as they knew

before they started there career that it would involve weekend work and public holidays . just as tab said earlier . what a lot of fluff .and read my thread again (she never

COMPLAINED about here pay) she knew before she started that she never would . ps she is second in charge .she does all the ordering of fuel, food, drinks ,etc not everyone

knows how to do that .

ah I feel better now

Well errrr yes it was a bit of a rant..... My bad....... It's just my lively hood that's all and it seems in vogue to bash people who get penalty rates these days is all.

Buf take your best shot....... I'm thick skined

I'm also on a salary , penalty rates are part of the package.

I'm also on call once or twice a week, I don't get paid for callouts.

I don't think I'm big noting myself work wise, sh!t I can count on one hand how many times I've mentioned my work on this forum, don't see your point there.

Your entering dangerous territory when you even hint at attacking other people's work conditions so expect "rants".

Anyway I love a good rant every now and then, cheers!

So if we all take our personal circumstances out of it , what single factor should

determine your pay and conditions ?

competition ?

performance?

entitlement ?

personal convenience?

other?

:bliss::bliss:

I would love to get penalty rates ,but at the moment everyone with a good job is lucky to have one . that's why I would never ask for a pay rise or bonus . just happy to have a job at the moment . I think that goes for most of us that have ordinary jobs . not including doctors or AMBULANCE workers etc

performance ,skills ,and age . someone older has the skills but is not as fast as a younger  person but can do it better and neater

Captain , always a fan of a broad debate , so nothing personal.

Some industries are moving towards total deregulation by necessity

far quicker than others.

IR is always a nice area for a wee chat.

My brother has worked for Coles for 25+ years and he gets arse raped.

Called back from holidays works public holidays at the bosses whim because

he'e to scared to say no, We'll give you time off instead.

I've spent most of my life at war with dirty WWorters and Coles raping the supplier

community and ultimately shoppers.,

How is it stuff made in OZ can be purchased cheaper in NZ supermarkets ?

However I digress
