Have a mate that drives metro trains in Brisbane, and yes he has mentioned how it's a bit of a sport. They are supposed to tap the horn every time they pass a W sign (before crossings/platforms etc.) but occasionally it's a bit more than a tap and a bit more often than required. They scare the absolute fck out of anyone within a few hundred meters.

Haha we aren't that bad in Sydney

We have data loggers for everything but if some kids are playing around they will lean on the horn as much as they want

Do they still use charges (or things that go BANG) on the tracks as a warning for workers that there's a train coming?

Yeah

We used to carry them on board but not anymore as vandals steal them

Lay them down on the track

Train stops

They Graf the train

Dags you need some redundancy in your mission-critical systems man.

I do...I have 4 drives installed...but it's been that long since I opened the case I have forgotten which is which and what has data on it I dont want to loose.

Haha - have got a lot of old IDE drives lying around with labels on them

Files

Videos

Music

Pictures

Games

O/S

etc

Always have an old PC or lappy in a closet somewhere too so if the worst happens I can boot it up and keep relaxing while fixing the main one

Friends babies funeral today. Won't be remembered as one of the best days I have ever had; in fact it plain sucked. However the drinks and dinner we had afterwards was epic; its been a good few years since all the old crew were together in one place and even though the situation was terrible I think we all have helped each other begin the healing phase.

May I never have to bury a child.
