Been meaning to pull the screen out of the turbo oil feed line on the g6et for ages

Came out sweet, screen out, main fitting back in and tightened, feed line banjo on and tightening up the sender fitting. Nek minnit - crack

Snapped the housing.

Guess the torque sensors on the arm need a major recalibrate.

An hour before a 5hr trip west with the rest of the extended family.

@barnz is the man to ask
Hopefully he sees this then and feels free to PM me or leave a comment.

Cheers.

Bit late soz,

I have a G6ET and a Focus ST not a Fiesta. Did not drive a Fiesta ST but they are comparable on a twisty road. Focus will walk past the Fiesta at higher speed has 5 doors, the space is impressive for a tight cabin, room in the hatch with fold down seats is impressive, can actually fit larger items in the focus than the falcon. Enough room for the border collie back there is well, parcel shelf just pops out.

The Recaros are bloody tight, im 6ft 95kg, its comfortable enough... not great after 2hrs but you love them when you need them. Controls are excellent, well laid out, except the stereo but the steering wheel controls and sync voice controls work awesome. 6 spd manual is nice and the shifter actually feels quite good for a linkage setup, This is where the focus is much better than the fiesta which is apparently quite rubbery in its feel.

Grip is off the planet seriously if you havent driven a high performance hatch and all you have driven is high powered boats, like me, your mind will be blown, electronic steering is awesome. I did one skid in it when I got it, dropped third, smoke was ridiculous and halarious as it filled the cabin quickly pouring off the front wheels... never again was gay as aids... funny though.

Dropping 3rd you say? No handbrake either...its quite a close ratio box, this gets annoying in traffic... 5th by 60kmh when just cruising. 6th is 2700rpm at 100kmh. You find yourself skipping gears alot, or just giving it the berries in 2nd and putting it in 5th or 6th depending on the speed limit.

So skids are out, The FG wins hands down here, took it to the shops this morning. Came back smiling even though it felt like a barge compared to the ST which is my daily now.... But do you even lift of over steer bro??? The ST is awesome at this but you have to be brave and a bit mental to do it as goes against every you would do in a big powerfull rwd, basically enter a corner with way to much speed under power and lift at the apex, hang on, steering stays pretty neutral no need to steer into it to much, power down will pull you out. Even a poke of the throttle anywhere in the corner if not under power will unload it and rotate it, can result in anything from a big neutral sort of slide on a sweeper or rotating it like you yanked the handbrake a bit on a tight corner if you are aggressive, other wise its really stable and predictable, can place the car really well and has lots of grip, only oversteers like a maniac if you want it to. Blows the FG away here as expected.

Its deceptively fast, has like a 6.2 second 0-100 time. Very difficult to launch well and consistently, no comparison to a ZF fg, its embarrassing from a standing start FG by a mile whilst skating on ling longs...Roll on however. Boost is limited in 1st and 2nd as it struggles to get the power down, full boost from 3rd on. I have rolled on 3rd With my G6ET(stock) and it just very slowly edged away from the ST, which has some 85kw less power, its really responsive down low like an fg but the tune is linear and it pulls really hard to the top. Had a 3rd-4th gear (to the top... take a guess at the speed..) roll on with a fgt manual ute from 80kmh, I got the smallest of jumps, he had already had 3 goes at getting me to bite and I thought stuff it reel me in as knew it would be faster. His tail lights were about in line with my head lights by time I tagged out in 4th..There is a ford racing tune avalible which is basically what they left on the table which is a FG like mid range no more peak power. Which results in alot of 1-2nd wheel spin but a more brutal 3rd onwards, otherwise tuning options are starting to come to Aus like mountune etc.

Fuel, well, its a 184kw 2.0 4 banger, which is more power per litre than the barra 270... More than the sprint in fact?? Even eith its direct injection ecofail its 11.0/100km with my duties compared to the FGs 14.7/100 to put it in perspective for you and your duties. Fiesta will win here easy. I find the focus cheap to run tbh I only do like 400km a week.

Wouldnt say I prefer either car. They are so different and awesome in their own ways. Focus ST was the choice of the hot hatches for me, Cant afford an RS, Fiesta too small and kind of eco spec compared to the Focus even in ST trim. Golfs were boring to drive in comparison, and to be honest I wasnt all that impressed by their European interiors.... good but fancy?..meh. Focus ST has it every where mod cons wise compared to even a fgx, apart from sync, rain sensing wipers, tyre deflation detection(which works well), sony stereo sounds good for factory. Interior lighting etc is nice. Just a whole lot nicer place to be to be honest. Focus ST also looks like a million times better then Fiesta ST imo. And ken block has a Focus RSX these days not a fiesta so you will basically be Ken Block..

So do I prefer it over the ST given its a fair bit better in alot of places..... Nope barra is addictive..its like crack...

But there was this:

Pulled the harness apart to fix all the grounds coz ford wouldnt after looking at it 3 times. Been fine since, no more stalling, weird throttle response and runnig like crap. There is a recall to replace the harness in the US, ford AUS claims only US vehicles were affected. Funny its been fine since I soldered every ground splice in the harness.. for like 8 months now...

Good write up. The idea of getting the Fiesta would be to have a fun car and cheaper repayments. After reading about the gear ratio's, it may sh*t me like it did in the Corolla. My first few cars were hatch backs and just had more fun driving them.

it was going so well until that last image!

good on you for solving the problem but that wiring situation turns me off that car which is a shame as I think it looks really nice in those photos there, in that colour too!
