I was under the car and noticed a oil drip on the back of the tranny ( front was up on ramps so drips to the rear).

Upon closer inspection its been doing it for a while judging by the small slick . It appears to be coming from the electronics plug on the drivers side rear, and if you look closely it looks like an orange seal has been pinched. I assume it happened when the trans was serviced as I don't touch the trans.

Has someone who has had a ZF apart got any ideas or pics of what its meant to look like - is the orange bit a o ring that can be replaced ?

Obviously the fluid level will need to be rechecked too, off to search the forum for the ZF fluid fill procedure I guess.

Just get a new one.  $40 on Ebay.  Need to drop the pan.

You coild try try removing the connection and inspecting.  Buts it's likely the gearbox side that's leaking.

Change the connector sleeve. Very common leak point. Needs to be done with the pan off.

It is pissing me off wondering if I should trade in/sell the XR6T and get a Fiesta ST..... I would need a dealer to let me have a 24 hour or even weekend test drive to have a better idea. The mrs has a 2012 Fiesta Zetec and although it has no go, it's a pretty fun little car with the 5 speed.

pros: fuel economy, rego, insurance etc costs will be lower. Repayments will be lower increasing borrowing capacity on a house. Easier to drive and park, hopefully more fun to drive. I have always liked nimble hatch backs.

cons: I might miss the power and torque not that I use it all that often. Might miss the room inside, especially when shopping and going fishing etc. The 6 speed manual in a small car is a worry. I had a Rolla with a 6 speed and 6th was geared like 5th would be and 5th was like a 4.5 in between.

Does anyone have experience driving and owning both cars? The Mrs. Says no but still having 3 years to pay off the falcon, I'm not sure what the big deal is.
