Hey Rab my mums a bit of a bitch ( zing ! ) but is a shocker for needles so she pays for an anaesthetist to gas her then the dentist does the needles and tooth work and then she wakes up all done

( dying for stubbie to come up with something :w00t2: )

its only $360 for the anaesthetic surgeon to do his thing ontop of the dentist bill

food for thought

Just turned 2 20 days ago Rab. I always worried about it but everyone said not to worry. Wife took him for his check up and they said he shows strong signs of autism. Testing and therapy next...

Good on you as parents for going for tests and not pretending you know there's no problem.  Missus is a teacher and some parents refuse to even let their kids get tested, which ends up being to the detriment of their child's learning as they then miss out on an educational assistant and fall behind (if they do have a learning disability).

My son might have autism. What a year I'm having...

Im sorry to hear this mate. There are all kinds of autism though along a fairly large scale. I have to ask as the parent of a 2.5 y/o. What was it that you had noticed and people told you not to worry about?

Sorry to hear that franga.

Mrs and I are debating about our 2 year old. Sometimes he shows signs then he does things that contradict them. I agree with barnz. The spectrum is large and I believe we all fit in it somewhere. Back in the day they'd say you had ADD or ADHD give you some meds and say good luck.

I've done voluntary work with autistic kids. It's a challenge. I couldn't begin to understand what a parent goes through but I don't think it would be easy.

He tends to be a loner among other kids. He's hyper focused and hard to distract. He doesn't respond to his name when we call for him. Only turns his head if we make a strange/loud noise. He isn't really talking yet. Not even "mama" or "dada" on a consistent basis. At first we were worried he was deaf, but we got a hearing test done and he passed with flying colours. Speech therapy is next which I believe he is starting tomorrow. There are also these free "rhyme time" classes to help development so he's going to start going to those.

He does love his cars though. Always has a Matchbox in his hand (he has tonnes) and does "vroom vroom" actions along the walls and furniture so that is promising... I'm really hoping he's just a late bloomer.

Those classes will help you guys manage it to the point that you wouldn't be able to tell he's autistic. Mine does the no responding to his name but we think he's just stubborn. He's also starting to talk heaps more now and stringing sentences together also.

Do you have a strict routine with him? They reckon that helps. I know if you try to break it they don't like it much.

And if they don't want to do something good luck trying to get them to do it.

Well no free ports is now the name of the game for my ADSL application - Internode are probably aiming for ADSL2 ports which I did see come back as full on the chekc I ran.  I'm on the waiting list and will have to make do with free net through work until then by the looks...could be a while!

Better than a flat out "no" that iiNet and Telstra gave at least.

If anyone is curious about getting ADSL hooked up you can run a bit of a check on a phone number here https://www.pacific.net.au/servicequal/

Cant change whats in his blood in regards to cars . Thanks heaps for sharing mate, I can only wish you guys all the best I know little about it really hence my curiosity. I do know there are many types and some are very managable. Sounds like your taking the right steps early.
