Main issue is cycling glasses are designed a certain way to help peripheral vision and the fact that you are looking up more than usual (head is forward). You can get cycling glasses with interchangeable lenses for night and glare for about $40 and then it doesn't matter if they break in your bag etc! That's the main problem - need one set of prescription lenses in daylight on the way to work, another set for riding home in the dark. It was that sort of thing that made me start wearing contacts. For sport and working underground it made life much easier. Even going out etc, didn't have to take multiple pairs of glasses.

Well the first few times, having two very nice looking OPSM ladies say "that really suits you" has taught me that I'm probably wearing the most expensive frames they have. Personally I like a heavier frame, because some places I've lived were quite windy and I've had a pair of glasses blown off my face before. I've never used SpecSavers myself, always OPSM, mainly because my prescription is unique, all my lenses need to be ground in Japan - they usually cost $400 just for the lenses - due to how stuffed my eyes are thanks to Kerotoconus plus astigmatism - hence why I am not legal to drive without my gas permeable contact lenses, as they change the shape of my eyes. There's nothing I can do about them either, as part of the problem with kerotoconus is my cornea's are too thin for Lasik, plus I've been told that sometime in my mid 40's I will certainly need cornea transplant's, which even private health insurance doesn't cover and from what I can gather means at least 6 weeks off work and I'll still need to wear contacts afterwards. Posted 28/07/16 06:11 AM Share Posted 28/07/16 06:11 AM Actually the latest set I got have Oakley frames and the frames aren't too bad for about the mid 100 mark, they definitely don't feel cheap. I had the more expensive Ted baker brand last time and whilst they lasted 2 years, for the extra price I wasn't impressed with them at all. I used to have transition lenses on my last glasses but as I stick to the contacts now, I didn't bother this time around. For anyone wondering, transition's aren't that dark - at least the grey colour ones I got weren't - and I found that to get them to activate quickly it was better to take the glasses off and point the lenses towards the sky for about 10 seconds. My bad, my net routes through India or some sh1t like that, small provider I use. Basically one Italian company (Luxottica, the worlds biggest eyewear manufacturer) makes most of the worlds glasses. Prescription lenses are the only thing they dont make. At least 1/2 BILLION of the worlds population wears their products. Oakley, ralph Lauren, Chanel, Prada, dolche Gabana , Versace ,ralf Lauren etc - they make em all.
