He smoked and paid the ultimate price - memories of when I was 7 and visiting him in the USA because mum knew he was on his last legs, oxygen bottle on wheels and tubes up the nose is pretty much how I remember him. Mum said he slipped up at dinner one night and started to mention something in regards to the capabilities of a plane he was working on at the time, then promptly shut up and had an "oops" look on his face. Then like ten years later the Blackbird was made public! Have got his business card, desk name plate and some anniversary and project celebration bits and pieces from Lockheed that he accumulated over the years, pretty cool to look at.

Extract from the book if you have time to read http://imgur.com/gallery/j7vbh Buy it before you buy that exxy watch you mentioned one time Cheers for the link, have not read anything like this. The baubles I have are not from the SR-71 job, military contracts probably never get anything like that due to the secrecy, or at least nothing saying "nice job on the spy plane" hahaha. I've got a Lockeed XX years of service pin, 25 years IIRC, and some stuff a Sheik gave him as thanks for some private plane build/sale they did, like a gold covered zippo style lighter. Heaps there including his pencils, pens and even his slide rule. Edited out a couple of numbers out of habit. Before anyone gets wise, the remotes are mine Pin is gold and diamonds. Be nice to work for a major corporation and get gear like that! Wonder what he would have been given had me made another 12 years' service.
