Was the suggestion of a job in the form of a Taxi Driver application?????

You are right though, people are way too picky in regards to what they will or won't do. If your struggling, job is a job, I have always said I will fall back on the tools.

I reckon I would actually enjoy it

If you're looking at foreclosure you take up pizza delivery, sh*t shovelling or even parking inspector jobs til you get back on your feet.

I've had two take one or two steps backwards in my career due to economic conditions affecting the businesses I've worked for. I never gone backwards and not had an opportunity present itself that didn't turn out to be a better gig than the pre backwards step.

There's no shame in having a couple of "lesser" roles on your resume, it show employers you are resilient and prepared to accept challenges as they present.

yep, bingo, Offshore FIFO ROV pilot > Toyota storeman > Rio Tinto contractor FIFO technical writer ... and now looking to be an electrical/electronics apprenticeship.

the only "nowhere" step was toyota, as I didn't know what I wanted to do after offshore, sort of the same for the Rio gig, luckily I had the quals to do the Rio gig, bonus of having stuff to fall back on ... but I dislike desk roles.

apprenticeship will be less funds, way less, but I'll survive and still play with cars.

and a major step forward

For me-

Site Super/2IC Supt - Site Closed and Transferred to another site as a Leading Hand

Leading Hand -Had a falling out with the PM over a safety issue - Resigned

Workshop Mechanic role for a small shop in Perth - Got sent to site for a Short stint

Site Stint turned into a PM role for an Asset Overhaul Program (manager was impressed with my work ethic and the methodology I applied to the machine shut-downs so asked to manage the project to get it back on target)

Pm role turned into a Perth Based Role for one of the Big Two,

I'm now earning what I was earning FIFO working 8hrs a day in Perth with a couple of Days onsite a month, but the company well and truly get's it's pound of flesh from me.

But I'd happily mow lawns for the local council to keep a roof over my families head.

Just imagine what mine would be like if I didn't pay taxes to fund your car mods :P

And now that you don't drink or smoke we don't get most of it back via the taxes on tobacco/alcohol.

Luckily fuel scrapes a bit back :P
