So.. A dude turned up over my fence this afternoon.. Was playing with the little guy in the front yard..

He was holding a rainbow lorikeet.. He'd just hit it with his Prius (environmentally friendly bird killer).. Tried to give it to me. I said 'whoa dude I know nothing about birds', he said he was late to an appointment and since there was a massive flock of them he didn't want to take the bird away from its friends..

He then dropped a dying bird with a broken wing over my fence (5 foot with spikes on top) onto the hedge and walked away..

So while attempting to get my son into the house so I could then go back and pick up a dazed/crazy and potentially lice infested bird, I quickly called the local wildlife rescue mob (work around roads you save the number in your phone).. Given the time the answering service gives me another number..

Called the other number and it's actually a vet.. They'll come pick the bird up but it'll cost me $50.. I kindly explained that I didn't want to be responsible for the bloody bird and I'd gladly drop it in to them. Apparently even if you drop it in it costs $20..

Alright $20 aint a far stretch but I thought wildlife carers were meant to care for wildlife.. Last time I checked pigeons and parrots don't earn much of an income to pay their own way..

I then explained just how badly f*cked up this bird was..

The charming vet said 'well if you bring it in we'll probably just snap its neck'...

So I hung up.. Took it to my next door neighbour.. They have parrots..

They are looking after it..

Rainbow lorikeets can be beautiful birds, I had mine for over 9 years. It sadly passed away this year, if he had of done that to me I'd of lost it at the c**t.
