yeah it was but back then like most things now, the U.S of Aholes like to be ready to exert their authority over the rest of the world

Just remembered something else he said..

Now ya gotta remember that the fighter jet under his control was worth a dollar or two and while he was stationed in Florida during that time, he was getting paid (24 hours a day / 7 days a week) $A7.60 an hour.

Doesn't seem much considering the situation.

My cousin was in the air force flying an f18 (or something) Scotty and was "loaned" to the United States during the Falklands war - never saw battle though - and he told me that during training with the yank pilots one day, he got wood due to the intensity of it all.

Never believed him but are you saying that he may of been telling me the truth??????

If so, sorry Dave......I believe you

Blood flow in the hi G environment could do all kinds of strange things. Very possible he is telling the truth.

As for the validity of a battle fat. It can neither be confirmed or debunked. It is a figure of speech. But with young bloke who get erections at a change of wind direction. Then yes there were plenty of times when I was operating a tank that I did so with a massive erection.

I reckon if the tanks and jets were controlled by keyboard and mouse I'd be the most valuable asset the army has ever had since the nuke

Ye I highly respect the people on the ground to be perfectly honest I wouldn't be able what you lads go through even when your not in direct combat lumpin all that gear around all day has gotta take its toll, special breed I tell ya.

Are lock on/laser designated held launchers as effective as they are made out to be in movies and video games? Always intrigued me and how many flares do jets actually carry

Wrong thread for it, but I'm so fckn grateful there's blokes like you out there Kimbo that enjoy the thrill of putting it all on the line for the benefit of all. I do perform under pressure quite well but as for willingly enlisting and getting involved I'm far too much of a sook.

The fact that it spat you out to some extent and you still miss it truly is amazing.

Lost a really good mate in battle and I'm choking up just thinking about him now. You guys are fckn legends.

But still...Skoda??? :pinch:

I'm with Tab.. Difference is I tried to enlist twice..

Was accepted as a DE Pilot to the RAAF in highschool then had a massive growth spurt and was told I was too tall..

Waited about 4 years.. bulked up.. Tried Officer Entry into the RAAF for Air Defense Guards.. Passed everything except the medical..

This was about the time I decided if they ever do a draft again in this country they can get stuffed..

Tab in the end it just becomes a mind set. A game so to speak. Do enough time you plead to get deployed cause your sick of training and want to see what's it's like.

In the end soldiers do what they do for their mates. The guys next to them on ground.

Yeah I do miss it. It's f*cking allot of people up but I would still recommend it as a worthy career.

Farkin hate banana trees.

Cut a heap down the other week at my parents new place and the buggers started growing new shoots out of the cut down trees.

Took around around 2.5 ton to the tip today and still have another 3 or so tons to go.

Unfortunately I have had the displeasure of doing this job, replace backyard with 100+ acres though.

Main method was cut them off at around 200mm from ground level and then inject each sucker with a mix of kero and diesel, or just diesel. Under a shot per sucker does the trick. If not just paint them with diesel.

Other method was not to cut them down but to give the ones you don't want to keep a small (1ml) dose of 24d (or 245t back in the day, mix them 50:50 for ultimate death). If you go this option you MUST keeps your hands clean and do not wipe them on any plant you want to live.
