I really respect you ratter, I would bring my car to you in an instant if I lived in Victoria so don't take it the wrong way, but I will never support the Death Penalty for any crime.

There have been too many people already sentenced to death and found innocent at a later date and a large number on death row found innocent luckily for them before the sentence was carried out. It is never OK to kill even a single innocent person.

I agree the cost is an issue, but as above, how would you feel if your wife/girlfriend was wrongly sentenced to death and found innocent after she was dead?

Everyone has opinions and this is just mine and my reasoning. Anyone else care to share?

No offence taken at all, we are all entitled to an opinion,

Death Sentence was probably a bit harsh on my behalf but was probably driven a little by emotion when typing that but to be honest I don't know what the answer is in all cases, It cost's a fortune to keep somebody locked up for life. But in a case like this where the guy has admitted to the same crime several times we need to act harshly

I would be pissed off if my wife was charged, and found guilty and put to death for a crime she did not commit, but I think I would be worse if I found she had been killed by a repeat offender that has done a little time for the same offence.

I think it's one of those things that will never be a clear answer, but I do believe courts are too lenient in a lot of cases

In this guys case there is definitely a problem. I think he only got 10? Years for rape after he'd been let out for manslaughter? There's something gone wrong there cause its obvious he hadn't reformed.

For serial offenders that have committed heinous crimes, and been in jail for them at least a couple of times and is let out, commit murder or another murder and is found guilty without a doubt that they did it, yes I believe they should pay with their own life, this would also deter or make people at least think of the severe consequences of their actions, I am a huge believer in an eye for an eye, and I'm sure most parents would agree if it is their child that was murdered by a violent repeat offender.

The death penalty shouldn't be taken lightly, if it is conclusive that they did it, and every bit of evidence points to them that they did it, then it should be applied. If there is any doubt that they may not have committed the offence then no it should not be applied.
