Another case of someone just listening to what they want to hear.

I rate generic tunes actually much cheaper, the best ones are 23psi in the mid jobbies

Thanks for all your info ratter, it's much appreciated. Just wondering if you have seen any cases where a generic tune hasn't caused any problems or has proven to be a safe short-term option? Cheers

Normally the generics I see are not that great which is why they are probably on the dyno due to the owner being suspect, most appear to be quite lean in the top end because they exceed what the injectors are capable of, but there are plenty of people out there with generics that have had no issues.

A bad initial tune, wheter generic or custom, can do damage that may show later on when things are pushed a little harder.

You would be wise to get your tuner to do a tune to get the car running and limit the power/revs until you can do it properly.

If you can't afford a correct tune now, how will you pay for an engine if things went wrong?

Thanks for the info & recommendation Impellor, I appreciate it.

No offense to Impellor(I'm sure hes researched it) but you've chosen the recommendation of someone that has said in this thread, that they themselves haven't run a generic. So what makes you feel that that is useful information? When everyone with experience is saying otherwise?

He may not send a disclaimer but if your engine blows it will be your fault as you chose to do that.

Where did I say I'd chosen his recommendation? I was thanking him for it. Most of the information here is useful to me, whether it's what I'd like to hear or not - that's why I started the thread.

It was only intended as a short-term thing while I was installing the parts, the purpose of the thread was to find out if it was a viable option or not. The plan isn't for things to go wrong (!!), but from what I've read so far it's looking like that can't be predicted. Probably looking like a custom tune is the only way to go! Thanks for all the advice, it's much appreciated.
