Had the EXACT same issue with my BA XR6, but after a while I couldn't turn the car off otherwise wouldn't start back up (driving without a speedo in a city with speed cameras sucks).

For me there was 2 issues! TPS was gone (was throwing an error code when I took it to Ford). So got a second hand one for $60 and changed it myself. Then also the ICC wasn't connecting properly to the car so try push it in real tight and double check all the plugs underneath it in the tissue box holder (I think theres 4).

I know the tps doesn't sound right but could be part of the missfiring issue, not 100% sure.

Maybe give the ICC thing a go, if you have to pull it out and push it back in (just be careful to not bend any of the pins on the connector when doing so. See how this goes then maybe try your tps

Probably wouldn't waste your time at ford, they had the car 3 times and never once picked up the issue

Or a tutorial as ill be honest I have no idea where/how and what that is (except from it being near one of the rear wheels haha) and what can I clean it with, will maf sensor cleaner work?

there's on on each back wheel, you cant missing it. Follow the wires from under the rear seat where they exit the interior along the control blade and onto the rear upright. They are the only sensors on the rear uprights. Just clean them with a rag. They are magnetic and tend to collect a bit of crap

Bellato:

Ive had the ICC out (not disconnected though) to install amp and twin subs, twin usb ports and a new head unit, the only thing I can say about that is, it was done about a year ago, and the problems has just started now..... still could be a possibility though.

How would I know that the TPS has failed? I dont want to be replacing the tps sensor, coils, & installing earths haha. But I guess more possibilities is better than none, thanks for your help :)

More than likely will be the battery, speedo is the first thing to go when battery is on its way out. Will not have anything to do with the coils or tps

Scan for error codes with your obd2 port and see what pops up, you should get a U1900

Thanks allot guys, over the weekend I will do as much as possible to see if I can fix the problem, I think ill check a few of the things mentioned before buying any new parts. its still going to be hard to know if its fixed or not straight away, seen as it only does it randomly. But ill let you know the outcome when I know its fixed.

My plan if anybody is interested haha;

1. Fix up earthing

2. Check battery & cabling (as its installed in the boot) DIY

3. Clean ABS Sensors

After that if theres still no joy;

1. Check/replace Throttle position sensor

2. Check/ replace coils

3. Check icc unit cables

4. If all else fails get ford/fraud to check for problems, and error codes as I have no idea how to do that.

Thanks for all your help
