Gday, I have kings sl and ssl springs with standard shock at the moment and last time I was at the strip I was getting alot of axle tramp of the line. Looking at heading out again soon and was wondering if I get a pair of bilsteins just in the rear to reduce the axle tramp will I have any problems. I would love to go out and get all four but dont have the money right now. Cheers

Ute or sedan?

I found with my sedan that more power fixed 70% of the problem then replacing the 3 diff bushes and 2 blade bushes totally eliminated the problem.

Its a sedan mate, last trip to the drags I had 270rwkw I have 290 now. Hopefully your theory is right. All the bushes would be standard I reakon and the car has done 120xxx so there probably stuffed. Cheers

You could always go Monroe's or something similar all round for the same price as rear bilsteins only.

I've done just blade bushes and they did help a bit, according to a lot of guys on here new shocks will definately help. As Kroozin said diff bushes will help too but you'll pay the same for diff bushes installed as you will for rear bilsteins installed lol

I think the more power theory works in that you have so much power that the wheels are spinning faster and don't have a chance to try grip thus reducing axle hop.

Im assuming you don't have a lot to spend at the moment based on your post so maybe just go with monroes all round, should cost you under $1k supplied and fitted. I know Bomber is pushing over 300rwkw in his FG and he's monroe's made a word of difference to axle hop

You can definitely just fit the Bilsteins to the rear for the time being, it will help with axle tramp. The bushes make a huge difference too.

You might find that the rear feels a bit more stable than the front, but its not going to be life threatening...

I have bilsteins and super pro comfort bushes in the rear of my FG with no axle hopping. The billies have a huge bearing on reducing the axle hopping, you can't lose really by fitting some.

Cheers for the advice guys, going to leave it a few weeks till I have the extra cash for all 4. I'm heading out to test n tunes tomorrow night to see how bad it is with the new power. Only thing different from last time is 20rwkw more and I just cut the bump stops in half so we'll see what happens I spose. Cheers

Good idea champ, the bilsteins are worth every penny...maybe grab some lowered 1's with springs. Speak to Pat at wholesale suspension about his 330mm+/- hub to guard setup.

You'll love it!!

Your bushes will be farked too btw,

well mine were anyway after the 130,000km mark it's a manual too.

Well had a few runs at willowbank with next to no axle tramp. Had a bit on 1 run but only a little. Will still be getting new shocks soon though. Got a new pb car went 12.3 @ 115 mph so I was stoked.
