Dropping Boost........ I Think

Hey every one. Long time reader first time poster.

I own a ba mkii F6 typhoon that I bought three weeks ago. I love the car with a passion as I was previously in a run down 98 golf.

Any way I bought it with a full 3.5" stainless exhaust, bosch 440cc green top injectors and air filter changed.

The problem I am having is when I power through 3rd gear it seems to drop boost and die back in between 5 and 5.2k..

After this happens it runs rough for a few hundred meters and then goes back to normal. I have only let it happen two or three times as I don't want it to do any damage.

I seem to think that it needs a retune but I thought I better ask you guys. People who know a little more then me on this topic.

Any comment would be appreciated. Thanks

Hey Davo..

If youve fitted the above mention parts without a tune.. Id say you over-boosting.. limp moding and god knows what else!!

Definitely not a safe state of affair.

Damaging? Most definitely.. Id get it tunes asap.

If it has been tuned.. could be your valve springs letting go..

Cheers

I didn't fit these things it came with all these things all done. I am going to take it in for a tune in the next week or two. Do you by any chance have a ball park figure for how much a tune costs? no flash tune just a tune.

thanks..

Sounds like valve springs. If you have a flash tuner, you can look for fault codes to see if it's going in limp mode etc. if its doing these symptoms without throwing fault codes, my money is on valve springs. Budget $1000 for valve springs and hope you get change
