Looking at strengthening my BF motor to take mid 400's

Thinking of Spool rods, atomic balancer and atomic oil pump

Anything else to look into?

I really only want similar strength to an F6 motor as they seem to take that kind of power and I don't need something that can take 698kw or anything

The other option is to just throw a new FG motor in it...

Thoughts?

Ba and fg rods and pistons are exactly the same the only difference from factory is the exhaust manifold and the inlet manifold other then that all the same

Just call brad at atomic he will tell u he's been building ford motors since the dinosaurs

I just don't see the need in $8k for a bottom end when a $3k one will do what I need

CMEFRY: BF II onwards rods are stronger than BA/BF

If you already have the answer, don't ask the question :idunno:

Mate by the time you through all the hassle of getting all the stuff done as ratter said ud be better off in my opinion if your only chasing 400s go with a fg f6 bottom end. Plus depending on your location u have to find a good engine builder. Bionicxr6t helped me source mine for under 3k to my door. But you will still need to go your usual atomic oil pump, hd timing chain and sprocket, New guides and tensioner. And get your head checked by a decent mob and valve springs if you don't have them already. I also went a vrs kit from atomic so u can get the new valve stem seals put in the.head and ull have all your New seals u need. But I did hear that ford aren't making them with the Bf dipstick. Which will make for a pain in the ass due to the sumps being back to front in the fg. But I'd did also hear that some shops have a jig setup to drill the second hole in the fg block to make it suit Bf.

Quick side question ratter I didn't think that ford used a sump gasket on there motors only gasket goo... If so do u use a gasket and where abouts you get them from...
