Hey guys,

This is the first time I'll have tried to install audio gear so just wanting to get some guide on how to go about installing my new speakers and amp in my BFMKII.

I've bought 6.5" MBQuartz splits for the front and JLC2 5 x 7's for the rear along with a alpine mxv60 5 channel amp (I was told all this would fit and work very well??). I've also bought wiring and the guy said I needed another connector called 'stereo interconnect' as well which I got. Is that also known as a RCA ?? So got all that gear and now I'm just wondering how to wire everything up and where this 'stereo interconnect' thing goes ?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Cheers

If the stereo interconnect is a line level converter then the easiest way is to join them to the rear speaker wires, then plug it into the amp inputs. Run speaker wires from the amp to the factory locations. Install the new speakers in these locations. Run a 4 gauge power wire from the battery to the amp +. Run the same gauge wire from the amp - to a spot of bare metal on the car (prolly have to sand it clean) and bolt it in. You may also need a trigger wire to turn on the amp. Keyed power.

As knoles said lol. Once you found the speaker wires and soldered them into the line level converter then the rest is pretty simple. As for finding out which ones are speaker wires, best to pull the door trim off or the parcel shelf covers and see what colour wire goes to that speaker then find it behind the glovebox, that way you can hide the line level converter behind the ICC

And you definately need a trigger wire! Basically what I did was use a test light and poke into every wire behind the glovebox until I found one that is on with accessories, got no idea what colour from memory!

The rear speakers are easy to get, pull the trim off the top of the boot out (inside boot, under parcel shelf) you'll find the wires there. I got key power from the power plug under ICC. You can get fronts (and rears if you prefer, both on left side) from inside the kick panels (which you'll have removed for running speaker wires from your amp). Do a search on factory speaker wire colour and locations.

Baha, yeh you're not wrong ^^. I know your speaking english but I'm struggling to string a sentence together. Have spoken to a mate who's done his, so thankfully I'll have someone helping me and showing me who does actually know what they're doing.

Cheers

Hahaha if youve never done anything like it before it can be very overwhelming. It's good fun though and very rewarding when you first turn it all on and crank it up.

Knoles is right. My first time I upgraded the speakers in my old man's dual cab Bravo when I was on red P's lol. Figured if I broke something didn't matter haha. PLus the ute had a new headunit which had RCA's which made things easier.

Seriously mate just go step by step (this is how I did mine, knoles probably took a slightly different approach)

1. Pull off your glovebox, door trims (front) and boot lining to get to the speakers.

2. Check what coloured wires are at each speaker and match them up with the bundle of wires behind the glovebox.

3. Now for your amp choose to eaither tap into the front or rear speakers and solder in the line level converter to the speakers

4. Now run RCA's from line level to amp

5. Run speaker wires from amp to speakers - and install new speakers

6. Use test light to find which of the wires comes on in accessories then solder into it and run it to your amp

7. Run decent gauge power cable from amp through firewall then add your fuse and connect to batttery

8. Screw in same or slightly lesser gauge wire as your ground to a good earthing point.

9. Put everything back together

It seriously is the most rewarding job! Especially when you build a custom sub box with mdf to go with your speakers
