My untouched/unopened ZF box has now done 180,000kms on my FG!

This includes at least 15 full circuit days at Eastern Creek, Wakefield or Marulan.

Secret to longevity is the oil has been changed with genuine ZF oil every year with new filter and large heat exchanger too.

Buy in bulk from Motospecs. Change the coolant every year too. Baby the box on the street and thrash it on the track.

My ZF is still flawless on the street, developed a tiny flare between (WOT) 3rd and 4th at Wakefield last time out but after another fluid change, was fine at Sydney Motorsport park last month as short shifting is fine with the small turbo on E85. Still puts Porsches, GTR's and M3's to shame in a straight line too!

How expensive is to service yourself? Easy to do yourself?

Cost me about $200 for oil and $120 for new pan, so $320 every service...I also rigged up a drum pump, ball valve and a bung that screws into fill port of the box...didn't spill anything and its pretty easy after you do it a few times.

Haha bugger, as far as oil goes I havent had any issues with a martini/lifeguard mix, and I see these things play up day in day out with transmax z and all the other fluids people dump into them, will be doing a full martini flush at some stage as I really cant fault it in any way.

The metal pan only requires a filter and gasket, which is approx $30 or $40 (can't remember exactly).

The genuine ZF Fluid is bought from Motospecs in approx 10l containers approx. (once again, cant remember exactly)

I have never serviced it myself (get it done at Central Auto tranmission (CAT) in Roseberry Sydney), and costs around $200 when I provide the oil.

The large (Orange dot) F6/police pack heat exchanger is supplied by CATS, or purchased direct through Ford.

I've got Transmax in mine currently. When it's not up to temp like first up in the morning it can be a little fussy but once coolant temp is up to even a quarter it goes away and is fine anytime after that. But am thinking of going the Martini route, I've just been reading Fuchs does an oil too? Titan 6000? Had any experience with that?
