Good purchase man, good purchase. footprint on table is small. footprint on power bill is smaller than your previous server.

You will run out of space fast. I went from 2 to 4 and now 8 slot NAS.

QNAP TS-853a is what I got now with 24TB. Wait till you get into digital photography and buy a high end DSLR and DRONE!!!

That is when the fun begins. @Rab just got his drone. When he starts to realize those 4k records take up space..... well......

:P

I only have 1 TB of stuff at the moment
Got 2 four TB drives so that should last me for a couple of years at least
Do love it so far
Easy one click copy to external source
And simple to use
Made just for people like me

that's what youtube is for. I just make vids and stick them there altho I dont do it too much anymore but ive never kept the raw footage aftewards. Only my DLSR stuff and that doesnt take huuuuge amounts of space

Am definitely ready to expand then the time comes.

Grabbed a 2tb WD "My Passport" drive that allows me to offload memory cards straight to it (has an inbuilt card reader and about 10hrs battery life and can be used as a portable battery pack to charge other stuff).

No need to worry about firing up the lappy to offload the days shooting now - just stick the cards into the drive and let it grab them all.

All are then nicely sorted for when I get home to copy across to the PC.

My only issue now is realising that I forgot to press record on the controller for the drone (accidentally push the wrong button at times - turning the recording off) 😞

Don't need much storage space if you forget to take the vids to start with :P
