Very nice utensils (the Thrustmaster I mean, kettle/toaster are OK too I guess ;) )

Try it with the TV on the coffee table ;)

I got a new kettle today as well (a black one) and funnily enough our toaster could do with an upgrade.

That's not as silly as it sounds.

Knew you'd have something to say about it, Rab :pandalol:

I played a little Forza the other day when I got the console, but didn't really find it grabbed me in a way I felt I'd want to put lots of hours into. Then I kinda had the idea yesterday that I wondered how different it'd be with a wheel as opposed to a controller. Couldn't sleep last night so started doing a whole bunch of reading.

I was initially liking the idea of the TMX Pro bundle, but then kinda leant towards the TX base, as it was supposed to be a heap better, plus you could change out the wheels. Only issue was that going down the TX path seemed pretty expensive, as the base alone was listed at $500, then you'd need to add on pedals (another $200-300) and a wheel (again, another $200-300)...compared to the TMX Pro bundle for $400.

I then noticed jb had the TX 458 Italia bundle for $450 and that seemed like a decent way to start, as it meant I'd get the TX base and a wheel, plus a crappy set of pedals to use for now. Walked into jb and asked the dude what he could do on price for that and the stand (which was listed at $300) and he did the lot for $600, $350 for the TX 458 Italia bundle and $250 for the stand. I reckon I did alright in the end!

First impressions are HOLY SHIET! What a difference it makes to playing the game! I'm absolutely terrible now compared to a controller, but by god is it a whole lot more engaging, rewarding and fun...and a decent workout too! Can see many hours getting eaten up by this thing! The pedals do feel pretty crappy, very little feel, but they'll do for now. Want to get myself a set of the T3PA-Pro pedals, they look like the go! That and a proper TH8A shifter.

I need to stop spending money...:ermm:

Very true! Part of my logic was that if I enjoyed it then it'd give me something to do at home to stop myself going out and blowing more money on other stuff...

That what I thought when I bought my pc and wheel setup.

I'd say it has worked out pretty good so far.

Good stuff @.Stripes. :)

Next thing to do is work out the FOV of the game on an interior view, the size of your screen and the optimal distance you need to be from it so it all matches - can make a huge difference in realism :)

Once you've got that sorted, try looking "through" the screen, not "at it"

What gear are you guys running with your setups?

I love the idea of that, Rab, but my living room doesn't really lend itself to setting it up like that. I proper seat would be ideal, but, again, not overly practical.

I've got the RS500 (PC/Playstation) base with the pedals and shifter you mentioned above and a couple of wheels (stock one, a larger one and the F1 rim)

I bought a g920 with pedals and shifter.

I attach the wheel and shifter to my computer desk and chuck the pedals under it. I end up sitting just under a metre from my 27 inch monitor I reckon.

On that note I'm getting some shut eye.

Gotta sleep to make gainz lol.
