Im going to be off work for a couple of weeks so seriously considering grabbing a cheap console of Gumtree to see if I can find and interest in Gaming. My wife made me promise I won't go in the workshop while I'm sick so will need to find a way to fill time.

I love World of Tanks on PC so wouldn't mind something similar on a console Suggestions?

Im gonna go a bit left field and suggest the original Half Life for PC if you are newish to gaming and havent played it. It was a pretty massive leap at the time and imo a pretty significant release in gamings history. Normally I think the experience would be lost on most but you might appreciate some nostalgia.

Hook a lappy up to the TV and use steam streaming from the decent PC if the lappy won't play WOT? (rather than moving the whole setup)

(my console suggestion was to get WOT on the console)

For mindless, stupid console fun I'd probably grab Diablo or GTAV

I think saying GTAV is mindless fun is a bit unfair, it sure can be if you want it to be. The first thing I did when it first loaded, started a police chase broke into an airport, stole a jet, landed on a highway somewhere in the desert where I was met by alot of aggresive cops and I had no weapons.....

Then I played through one of the most immersive story lines I can recall. The effort that goes into creating open world games of this caliber is mind blowing. Its a masterpiece from Rockstar and I hope they continue to go to such lengths to produce games of such quality. It must be hard to justify given the ludicrous mobile market which sees huge profit margins for minimal effort...think sh*t like candy crush, even clash of clans ect...

Yeah - story and the game is fantastic.

Once you're past the first intro bits you can do as little or as much as you want though - perfect for someone recovering on the couch. (sometimes you want the plot - other times you just want 10 mins here and there of crashing into things and blowing sh*t up) - same theory on Diablo - good to play through the campaign, but also good for a 10-30min fun session

and then it's 2am and you realise you've spent the whole evening on the other side of the map from where you originally wanted to be doing other stuff ;)

If you're after a game with a decent and immersive story and are new to gaming then I'd recommend taking a look at the Mass Effect series. Both storyline and gameplay are epic. I haven't really gotten drawn into any games over the last few years...except for those games, they had me hooked! Can get them on both consoles (Xbox 360 - which reminds me, I have a spare Xbox 360 sitting in a cupboard up on site you could borrow and see if you like it?) and PC. Edited by .Stripes.

Arron, it's dangerous to go alone. Take this!

I still have the gold cartridge too among the collection. No power pack or controllers though (stolen along with my SNES). At least I still have the console. Was ten when dad bought it for me!

Picked this up today for $200. Has normal amount of shaft play.

Undecided if I should just sell it for a profit or put it on my Ute. Is it a bit of overkill for 400rwkw?
