With nearly all of them being native 4k now and having hugely improved versions of the auto zoom feature (press a button and it zooms the image for scope movie watching) it is a no brainer now... I've had my JVC HD550 now for 5yrs and started out just projecting it on a wall in a rental with a small 82inch image and now have in my own house a 120inch scope screen (about 92inch 16x9) and I can guarantee that you'll NEVER buy another expensive TV again (in my case now it's just cheap 55in Soniq TV's)...

Will definitely get one before I buy another big tv though...purely from the perspective of having to move the thing come time to move house!

I don't use it as an every day TV as the room needs to be light controlled. When I finally upgrade to a 4k PJ in 5yrs or so the JVC will then go upstairs for TV duties but by then lcd/led PJ's will be cheap as chips... As it is an entry level full HD Benq 1080 can be had for under $970 so I don't see why allot of people aren't going the big screen route at that price and easily up to 150inch screen can be had with it!

That my friends is the cheapest I've ever seen them for 2nd...Link- http://www.dtvforum.info/index.php?/topic/191400-Fs:-Benq-W1070-Full-Hd-Projector

The higher end units $5k+ sell for roughly the same 60%+ of the value depending on age and hours used. Bulbs are cheap in comparison so not an issue really...
