Am running 2x980GTX's - overkill for the 3 screen cockpit, but main monitor is a 4k 40" one.

Gets me a steady 60fps with most things maxed on just about everything I've tried.

Running with v-sync on ATM so it doesn't budge off 60fps. Will turn it off at some stage and see where it's at.

Didn't even look at the settings, so not sure if it was on ultra or lower.

Just finished hooking everything up and cut a few laps of the Island and the Mountain.

Been ages since I drove anything, so am very rusty. I did manage a few clean laps.

Also managed to write off a couple of FG's ;)

Need to get the spirit level out and get the screens properly aligned, mount and hook up the speakers and work out how to mount the buttkicker (they didn't send me the gamer one I ordered which is simple to attach, but the model above which isn't easy to mount)

MX-5 day tomorrow, getting my eye in and then I go live : )

Son's got a mate coming over tomorrow so will be the 2 cockpits running the PS3's and Gran Turismo. Might not get to race afterall :S

(I don't usually spurge or go overboard like this, but it was a good year and did the hard yards over the previous couple of ones - birthday is next week so I decided to spoil myself)

Man, you must have blown a few K on the box, 2 x GTX 980's would have set you back $1500 alone.

Did you build it yourself?

Building systems is one of my hobbys, built my current one 3 years ago and it still smashes everything I throw at it.

Rig = Intel® Core™ i7-3930K 6 core Processor overclocked to 4027 MHz with 16 Gb of G.SKILL Ripjaws memory @ 2134 MHz on an Asus Rampage IV Formula motherboard

Box is a fair few years old now. 3770k, 16gb, Asrock Z77 Fatality Pro and had 2x7970's in crossfire.

Bought the 3x27" monitors at the same time.

7970's for the 5970x1080. They were powerful, but never quite right. Was glad to swap them out and ebay them to lessen the hit on the wallet.

Upgraded to the 980's a couple of months ago for 4k gaming - rest of the rig is still a beast.

Yeah, like you building them's a bit of a hobby and I try to jump in before friends/family buy a box from Harvey Norman's to put them together a much better system much cheaper (cost of parts + bottle of drink of their choice)

Lately though I've been tending to suggest decent laptops in most cases for them - fit's their needs better.

snap bro, I like to help out family and friends 2  also only charge them for parts :original:

I know what you meen about laptops, there is some great cheap deals out there.

Still cheaper to build desktops that buy generic sh@t boxes from hardly normal though, and you cant beat a desktop for screen realestate :wwww:

Like to see you keeping the quality cpu and motherboard and dropping the radeons for nvidia.

Ive never had much sucess with them either, but never had any issues with nvidia cards

Yeah - they keep promising bang for buck, but everyone I've had has always felt "almost there".

I generally push them towards a brand with a decent warranty/returns process for lappies - sometimes I don't want to deal with spyware, lost files and user error on a box put together for them 5 years ago. Have got a couple of relatives that "I don't build PC's anymore" for too ;)

Am running a Surface Pro 3 in the docking station with a 28" monitor, keyboard and mouse on my other desk.

Gives me the realestate when sitting down, but is just a matter of picking up the tablet on my way out the door and I've got my whole office with me 24/7.

that looks bad, better get it checked

I did see a doctor on saturday and expressed my concern for the swelling, he said, "just keep taking the antibiotics and it will be fine" (stitches come out on friday ) :original:
