Bought one of these and wired up the stock AUX connector so I can have 3.5mm stereo tunes :spoton: (instead of the FM transmitter method that the car came with, because it has a CD stuck in the CD changer :stirthepot:)

Also bought cable ties. Everybody loves cable ties :turboboink:

I've tried the amplified aux and the non amped (from ford).

non amped is bad if the device has a crap 3.5mm port. most android phones sound really quiet compared to my iphone I've noticed. I bought the amped one for the old BA and this BF came with the non amped aux cable already installed.

Was thinking of wiring in a little bluetooth thing that plugs into the 3.5mm aux port - I already have something that would do this, but would have to sort out power for it.

yeah, obviously it's not amplified so the volume is low... but this limitation prevents me from wanting to spend $1000+ on car audio (like I normally do) haha

turn the volume all the way up on the device you are using with aux then control the volume with the standard unit...the AUX input works much like headphones therefore have 2 volume controls however the intial is the input signal so if you have low volume on your device then you will have low volume via the car system too.

I don't claim to be an audio wizard but many years of guitar playing has shown me that if you crank the gain or the preamp you are more likely to end up with a distorted signal.

Obviously with headphone out and line in applications this will be a trial and error exercise as there is no baseline to draw from apart from anecdotal evidence.

I would suggest 70 to 80% input as a starting point barring any previous knowledge of the system.

Id agree but given their isnt really enough amperage it wont make a huge difference and the standard speakers will fail before this volume anyway. Aftermarket speakers will net better results, but it really is a sh*t setup.

Likely anyone running that setup doesnt listen to it loud or any decent sort of output in the car anyway
