Try getting your vehicle serviced at a different dealer, as has been stated already different dealers have different attitudes toward modifications. My local dealer is a Herrod agaent and also sell and install off-the-shelf APS kits.

I reckon you'd be pretty safe with not harming your motor with APS Phase 1 kit as it is only a relatively low power increase. The gearbox (mostly manual) seems to be the weak link when doing mods. If you are concerned about your warranty then perhaps you shouldn't modify. Wait until FPV bring out the 280kw job and buy that.

if you mod the car ... then you also take responsibility for the car

car breaks ... you fix !!!

to determine whether or not a fault is due to the mod or not ....

who knows ??

who cares ??? fomoco don't !!! and nor they should

on the other hand, if your relationship with your dealer is good and can withstand a truthfull conversation about any possible faults .... then the dealer may do a manufacturer fix if it was a fomoco fault .....

the keyword is truthfull ....

no lies .... no secrets ....

it has worked for me and I've benefited and I have also worn some things on the chin ..... it is the way of things when you are doing mods

Believe me, BLKXRT's post is 100% spot on.

Do as he says, simple as that. Truthful is the key word here folks.

Another headache to worry about is insurance, if doing any mods & have an accident & you might find that the insurance could be denied ( based on who is at fault & so forth of course).

There are risk all the times with mods.

I had my insurance re-quoted with modification chip and exhaust online and the price difference was like 20 bucks.

I currently have fitted SS induction & BMC hi flow air panel filter and am planning to get exhaust and APS stage 1 in January.

I have contacted my current insurer NRMA and they will allow all above mods , except performance chips . They were unmoving on allowing chips on Turbo vehicles they class as sports cars. This is despite the fact that I am over 25 ( well over I may add) and have not made a claim for over

15 years ( touches head).

They were also at pains to remind me that should a claim be made that any mods detected that are not covered by policy will void any cover. :banghead:

So the point is , Can anyone advise of an insurer who will cover chps

on the T in NSW ?

You help is appreciated :puke:

WhiteTee,

Try GIO; refer to thread Insurance & Mods, my post

http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/index.ph...wtopic=7901&hl=

Yes they are more expensive than possibly other companies, but remember Sydney people always pay more than the rest of the country; as I'm used to paying $2-3k pa for rex insurance the Ford is cheap by comparison.

I'd suggest other comments re-Insurance re-join the Insurance thread.

For Insurance on Modified Car's Try Shannon's. They offer Full Modified cover at very reasonable prices.

They will only cover over 25's and your driving record can cause some drama's. They are great otherwise, even when you claim. :)

Warranty, what a joke. Modded or unmodded, look at all the complaints here (not just mine - 100's of others).

We should run a satisfaction poll and forward the results to Detroit or the media - that might change things a bit.

What are you talking about? Yes the XR6T has problems, and Ford warranty fixes these problems (or trys to). Just because the car has problems doesn't mean the warranty process is f%^ked up. The warranty terms and conditions have no impact on the cars reliability.

As for Ford Detroit  Read the Cars Guide from the Herald Sun from 26th December, it's obvious Ford America don't give a rats clacker about Ford Australia, and that info comes from Ford execs.

Bottom line:If you modify your car you should expect your warranty for related items to that mod to be void.

Try AAMI on their website they allow you to note that you have a chip + other mods on your car. Cost for me is around $950
