I had a mate up here that got his xr6t tuned at xft and made 330kws, took it back and got 98 tune. Went 380kws. That's with full zorst cooler plenum etc. I suppose it depends on how much you want to lean on it though. If tuning for 95 your normally expecting to encounter sh*t fuel due to the places that you can't get 98 usually are low volume fuel movers out in the middle of no where with really old fuel. Better to be safe than sorry I reckon. 1 Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/81008-difference-between-95-and-98-tune/page/2/#findComment-1268062 Share on other sites

New Zealand Posted 17/07/12 09:47 PM Author Share Posted 17/07/12 09:47 PM Hi, thanks for all your feedback, its been great. Think I will try a 95 tune first and if that's no good I will change it to a 98 tune. Will let you know the power figures after my tune on Friday. Where are you - north or south Island? I'd luuurv to drive the south Island Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/81008-difference-between-95-and-98-tune/page/2/#findComment-1269357 Share on other sites

But the law doesnt go looking so you can easily get away with it. Dynotuned on 95 yesterday, got 245rwkw at 8psi, all other figures good (nice safe tune). Took it for drive on open road (WOT) and cut out at 120kph in 2nd gear about 5000rpm (knock sensors). Due to the cold air outside, about 8 degrees, it decided to overboost and when back at tuners he put scan tool on it and showed wastegate issue. He took the boost down to 5psi and tried again, same thing. He said the removal of the CAT has left it with not enough backpressure (CAT taken out by previous tuner who was an idiot and couldnt get the tune right because of this..no dyno) so said to either put CAT back in or modify wastegate to allow more flow (about 4-600 dollars). So CAT went back in this morning, lol, and took it for open road run(WOT), went perfect. Will take it back to tuner next week to run it again to make sure all is good with CAT back in, plus put the boost back up. Will update again after retune. Hope this makes sense, Cheers Martin. PS EvilDaifu I live in the lower North Island and Wenier I am thinking the same thing about the CAT. The cat removal seems to be the main problem so putting it back in seems to have fixed it cheers Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/81008-difference-between-95-and-98-tune/page/2/#findComment-1269451 Share on other sites
