Hey guys,

I have an 08 fg with the Ford hardlid, in the wet I noticed I was getting water in the try when I was driving, I assumed it was coming in through the front of the lid and was just going to fix up the seal at the front.

However, this weekend I went up to visit the old girl who lives up the bush on a dirt road and due to the rain was quite muddy. I can now see with the "help" of the mud the water is actually coming up off the rear wheels, through the wheel arch somewhere and through the tiedown rail on the sides and into the tray!

has anyone else come across this and know how to seal it? I will post pics this arvo.

Thanks in advance,

Brett

I have a 06 bfmk2 xr6 and I don't have any issues up around the wheel arches but I get a bit of a mess coming up under the bottom of the tailgate of mine, as there is a bit of a gap there, but my brother in law had a fg and his did the same thing as yours, he just sealed it up with sikaflex and it was fine. not something you should have to do, but it fixed the problem :)

I got all types of sh*t coming out of my rear bar under the tailgate in my ba.. I run a hard lid also ... So it has to be coming from Underneath ... Also a lot around the number plate area .. Pisses me off as I wash my car and take It up the road and sh*t is everywhere with in five min

yeap - early fg's had this issue - mine had it.

there is a service advice for it - they reseal around the top of the tray and put in two flat pieces (300mm x 200mm above the wheels where for some reason there are big gaps that make it easy for mud and crap to get up and into the tray.

your only issue will be if your out of warrenty (id still hit them up)

failing that, take your black top trims off and silcon the crap out of it and put it back on.
