Can you wait till the existing one is juuust about to run out and sign up on the extra? If it is about $1300 then $36 per month to have full warranty is a bargain.Only problem is no modding - aahh the dilemmas we must face. If that's right then say you blow a gearbox or worse n engine it's going to cost you more than $1500 plus the $1400 odd you paid for the extended warranty. So in the end costs you the same even if something major dies.

The extended warranty book I got states clearly that it's identical to my factory warranty, and is good to 6yrs/180,000. Mine is one offered by Ford, not just the dealership. The cost of repairs etc is unlimited to 150,000kms as per factory. The only difference is that from 150k-180k the max claimable at any one time is $2000.Also, reading the extended warranty book it states that I can cancel at any time and they'll refund the remainder of the period outstanding (assuming I'm into the extended warranty period, otherwise I get the full amount back). Someone want to explain how I'm being shafted?

The Ford one that is a Ford Australia Extended Warranty. It's underwritten by Swann Insurance and has No limit. except for the one SavageD mentioned. The other is a Dealer extended warranty and I would not touch one. They are generally provided by Wynns, Australian Car Warranties (I think) and have many limits and conditions. You are able to buy the Ford Warranty anytime up until your factory warranty expires. As for Value, I think it is great, even for modded cars. If your ICC is toasted. it will be a $3500 experience out of warranty, and there are many other non driveline examples that will cost you big $$'s if you do not have some coverage. I got another 2yrs and up to 100,000 Kms for $995. I think it's good insurance just incase you have a major failure. They ask you if you have mods when you sign the papers. Here's a link:http://www.aswn.com.au/war_products.aspxThey also offer an extension to new car warranty for 7yrs/200K. Not sure on prices, but might be worthwhile checking them direct.hthws
