had a bit of a break through today with the sunroof.

I took the black vinyl off the roof a couple days ago as it started to pucker in a couple places where it met the sunroof seal.

so decided to get it painted the same colour that my panda eyes and lower rear bar are being painted atm. also getting the legs to the spoiler done in the same colour while im at it.

in order to get a perfect finish on the roof I decided to try to remove the sunroof and seals so it could be painted right to the edge of the metal under the sunroof weather seal.

so started google hunting for instructions to remove the sunroof and came up with this-

http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/acms/cs/jaxrs/download/doc/acm15587833/rcrit-10e038-3456.pdf

easy peasy to remove the glass- then the seal pulled off with a bit of persuasion. after taking off the rain channel at the back under where the glass was I could easily get the sliding interior headlining out- bonus! as im getting new headlining made and wasnt sure how this was going to come out to trim the same as the rest.

the other good thing is that I have already added sound deadener on all the body panels except the roof skin that's covered by the sunroof (which is most of it).

now that the glass is gone there is a reasonable gap between the sunroof housing and the roof skin so will be able to apply deadener to that part now.

when im done and the sunroof is back in, ill send it in to be sorted out under the recall that is in place.

I do miss it though, so will need to get back into it.
