So for now I'm just going to go new amp and sub, leaving factory speakers.

Something middle of the road....... what would you suggest for amp brand ??

Also I'm guessing the speakers will sound much better once connected to the amp ?? (as you can tell I'm a noob at this stuff)

I went from premo sound to the standard system in this car. Absolutely horrible but not only that, I get static from the radio.

Would love to upgrade to a different ICC unit, speakers, add the sub and what not from the Premo, but cost (from quotes) is somewhere around 1500-2000 bucks which is definitely not worth the spend to me. Maybe a $500 upgrade would suit better.

Anyone done just a basic upgrade from the stock system (non-premo/prestige)

Just put an aftermarket head unit in. $200 fitted for a basic sony unit with mp3/usb/aux.

Then you'll have better sound than the premo Ford unit.

Chuck a sub and amp in there for another couple of hundred if you want.

Easy to install yourself?

Means that the ICC is not used at all anymore though doesn't it?

Sounds good though for $200.

I didn't bother doing it my self as $200 included the fascia for it to fit in also. Might have been $220 all up but no more than $250.

None of the icc audio functions are used anymore so that is just your heating and cooling.

There are plenty of brands webby. If you're not going all out on a sound quality based system them most of them will do but just pass on the cheap no name brands.

You don't have to have a 5 channel but for ease of install and less crap in your boot they're a good idea.

Give a jaycar a go too as most of there stuff is really good and at a great price too.

I've got a 200rms jaycar sub in my car which makes more than enough bass for me.

Here's another option too which comes with a built in amp like mine.

Thanks mate, so will a 5 channel be ok though ?? Guessing one to each speaker then one to the sub ? Or am I getting that wrong ?

Thanks for that, will have a good look when I go down. Also what subs are a direct replacement over the stock one ?
