I hope those pipes exit right out the top of the bonnet.

J Pipe/Helmholtz Resonance chamber. Its up there with the single best mod I have done to my car. Drone at idle and light throttle cruise is gone.

I used a phone app to measure the sounds spectrum and found aprox 86hz was the loudest at the abovementioned conditions. The pipe length is determined by a calculation ( I have created an Excell sheet with the calc in it if anybody wants it) and mine came to be aprox 930mm I made the pipe adjustable so the length could be tuned to get the best result.

So far Im over the moon with improvement. The car is now so quite at cruise I can here the tires and wind noise through the doors seals... (awesome.....)

I'd highly recommend this mod for anybody run a large single exhaust (or a droney twin) with an auto.

below is a vid of before and after. You'll notice the phone mic starting to his due to high volume in the first vid, and how much clearer the note is in the second vid. No changes apart from adding the pipe.

(yeah the welds are shit. I was tired, it's only the proto type. The permanent pipe will be fabbed in stainless, etc etc etc)

It looks a lot bigger in the new picture than it did in the original picture :)

Still... don't know of anybody else who's done a J-pipe for a xr6t. nice work!
