Since the clutch went in (MWA Opt5) I have notchy downshifts unless I double clutched it and a couple of time it has locked me out completely. I was thinking either a dodgy spigot bearing (was changed at clutch change time) dodgy hydraulics/setup (clutch line and bleeder are MWA braided units and csc Preload is bang on spec), a twisted input shaft(my box has the 10 spline input which are known to be less robust than the 26 spline) or an actual issue with the clutch. So popped the box out today and found the splines to be okay and no binding between the plates and splines. I then had a long hard look at the clutch plates and im embarrassed to say it but I F'd up. When i fitted the clutch I obviously didn't have the alignment 100% spot on between the clutch and box/input shaft. This has tweaked the front plate and caused aprox 3-4mm run out in the front plate. Obviously this will cause the clutch to drag when released and other symptoms such as harsh shifts.Im taking the friction plates and intermediate plate to a local machine shop so they can (hopefully) set both plates up in their lathe check the run out and and im hoping they can true them up. I will also check the intermediate plate for flatness/warpage but im 99% sure the only issue is the warped/bent front plate. If they can't true it up I will be up for a clutch machine/plate replacement I suppose. The most frustrating part is I was unhappy with the process of refitting the box so AFTER i fitted mine I purchased some long guide bolts and I now use these to align the clutch and box before pushing it home. If I'd done that with my own car It wouldn't have the issues I have now. While its up in the air I will also replace the failed front diff bushed and give it a good once over. I also noticed my 20k kms (aprox) rear invo's are only a couple of mm off the wear bars FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUU!/end novel
