Pretty disappointing. Welcome to motorsport.

Beats paying for a new alternator!

I disassembled the alternator which was fairly straightforward, except for a bit of desoldering. Put the new bearing in and put it back together, including resoldering the winding, which was easier than you'd think, but fairly time consuming. The new water pump showed up which got me back to it today. It took roughly 4 hours to repair a couple of threads/snapped bolts, fit water pump and refit alternator. There are 15 bolts to fit the water pump, there are several different lengths and thickness and there are brackets that have to go over the pump housing before fitting! Trust me, it sucked! Got some hectic sunburn on my shoulders but it was worth it when the car fired up, the pump was quiet with no leaks and the alternator was also quiet and charging! Anyhow, not terribly exciting but it's what I did to my car today
